Market Insights
“The flight simulator market size was US$ 4.9 Billion in 2023 and is likely to grow at a decent CAGR of 4.5% in the long run to reach US$ 7.9 Billion in 2030.”
Market Dynamics
Introduction
The Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) market is experiencing significant demand driven by the increasing need for advanced avionics in modern aircraft. Technological advancements, including the integration of digital displays, enhanced data processing capabilities, and improved navigation systems, are revolutionizing cockpit operations and pilot efficiency. As airlines and operators seek to enhance safety, reduce operational costs, and comply with regulatory standards, the adoption of EFIS technology is expected to rise. Furthermore, the growing trend towards aircraft modernization and the incorporation of smart technologies in aviation are poised to propel market growth, making EFIS a critical component in the future of aviation.
An EFIS is a digital substitute for the conventional mechanical gauges and instruments that are installed in the cockpit to analyze and display various operational parameters of an aircraft. The adoption of EFIS is driven by the demand for the integration of sophisticated avionics onboard modern aircraft as a replacement to the cumbersome electromechanical gauges and indicators, thereby saving weight and reducing operational and maintenance costs for end users.
New Development:
- In July 2022, Aircalin of New Caledonia signed an agreement with Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC) to train its A320 and A330 pilots. Some 35 Aircalin pilots could be trained recurrently on both aircraft types by Airbus to keep them skilled and qualified.
- In May 2022, CAE Inc. increased its offering of the CAE Toronto Training Center by deploying one CAE 7000XR Boeing 787 and a CAE 7000XR Boeing 737 MAX Full-flight simulators (FFS) to serve its clients in Canada at the World Aviation Training Summit 2022.
- In May 2022, PSAA, a SAUDIA Group subsidiary, signed an agreement with L3Harris to provide six different simulators for advanced flying training.
- In October 2021, Flight Safety International was chosen by Breeze Airways to provide Breeze with full flight simulators and flight training devices, including the Airbus A220 and Embraer E190 (FTD). Besides providing the equipment, it is also going to maintain in operation the gadgets and other equipment for crew training for the client.
- Flight Safety is establishing its commercial airline training operations and equipment. The company has nearly 40 E-jet Full Flight Simulators to its name and is a major training technology provider for Airbus A220.

By Type
“Full flight simulator is expected to remain the dominant in the market during the forecast period.”
- These systems are becoming more popular because of high fidelity, reliability, and simulation accuracy, and better at exposing deficiencies like proneness to pilot-induced oscillation (PIO).
- These systems generate sound, motion, and visuals to create a realistic training environment and also provide digital electrical control loading and an electric motion system, with reduced power consumption and ensuring minimal operational life costs.
- Many companies are providing an opportunity to use full flight simulators (FFS) with the growth in usage of these simulators. For example, in June 2018, Airbus launched the latest version of the full flight simulator (FFS) to enable the training of staff on the Airbus A330 Multirole Tanker Transport (MRTT).
- CAE offers the most innovative full-flight simulators (FFS), including the latest CAE 7000XR Series Level D FFS, which improves training efficiency, offers advanced capabilities, and increases operational efficiency.
By Platform Type
“UAV simulator is anticipated to command the flight-simulator market.”
- Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, or UAVs, also known as drones, are aircraft operated without a human pilot onboard. The UAV simulator accurately models the aerodynamics, control systems, and flight dynamics specific to the drone. This segment is also expected to be the fastest growing in the forecast period as more people require drone pilots.
- A fixed-wing simulator is a high-tech training equipment designed to mimic the flight behavior and systems of a fixed-wing aircraft. The fixed-wing simulator segment is likely to witness a huge market share during the forecast period as the aircraft fleet is growing and air traffic is increasing.
By Method Type
“Synthetic is expected to remain the dominant in the market during the forecast period.”
- The flight simulator market has, depending upon methodology, been divided into two categories: synthetic and virtual. Various forms of simulation training methods make use of virtual and constructive reality to facilitate training in complex tasks and procedures on simulators.
- The expanding use of the synthetic environment in enhancing training, planning of missions, simulation during rehearsals, and making operative decisions because it is closer to reality and the world has accurately mirrored it in simulation drives the expansion of the flight simulator industry.
Regional Analysis
“The Asia-Pacific is expected to remain the largest market for flight simulators during the forecast period.”
- Growing demands for traveling by air and connectivity on aerial lines by passengers have led to increasing numbers of new routes in the Asia-Pacific introduced by airlines, creating heavy shortages of both pilots and cabin crew within the same region.
- This shortage of pilots and other aircraft employees is expected to drive the demand for civil aviation simulators. The construction of new training facilities by regional airlines and training providers, as well as orders for new simulators, is expected to drive the demand for simulator training during the forecast period.
